Clovis police recaptured William Lyle Wheeler 19 after he fled Curry County Jail with fellow escapees. Damon Pitcher FBI agent nabbed Wheeler near a residence. Harry Liston 21 remains at large in Schenectady. The trio, plus a 16 year old, faced charges under the National Motor Vehicle Transportation Act. Mrs. Joiner injured aiding her husband during the escape.

A Texas business man paid a record $29,402 for grand and reserve grand champion steers and a carload of baby beeves at the 49th International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. Schantol Rites Held Thursday
Final rites for Lyman Harvey Schantol were held at Blackburn- Shaw Memorial Chapel after he died at his Amarillo home. The 64 year old retired salesman had lived in the city 22 years with wife Jessie L. Schantol and brother Delbert Lee Schantoil of Orient, Iowa among survivors. The service was led by Dr. Roy Snod of First Christian church with burial in Llano Cemetery.
