In Potter County a close local option vote yields 12 dry and 14 wet boxes among 26 counted precincts. Final tally shows 1,663 for legalization and 1,405 against, about 3,100 ballots cast. county officials will complete canvass within five days. It marks the first liquor legalization in 24 years.
The AAA announced a four year adjustment contract for cotton growers aimed at reducing output and improving pay for sharecroppers and tenants. The plan lowers the national base acreage from 45.5 million to 44.5 million acres and targets 1936 production 30 to 45 percent below base, with 1 million acre reduction.
