Reports say Suchow’s 250000 man garrison heads south to aid trapped comrades near Suhsien as government eyes retreat from Nanking. Communications and air support to Nanking may be cut to force a fighting withdrawal toward Chungking or Fosmo.
President Truman endorsed a thorough investigation of lobbying in Congress praised by the International Association of Machinists. The resolution demands full facts on lobbying by NAM, the Committee for Constitutional Government, the National Physicians Committee, electric, home builders, real estate boards, railroads and other lobbies. The 1946 lobbying law faces court tests amid indictments and civil suits including former Missouri Rep. Roger Slaughter and others paid for lobbying services.
Today in Amarillo the Junior Chamber meets at noon at the Herring Hotel and the Panhandie Geological Society holds a 7 30 PM meeting. Mrs. Bess Gill of 2218 Brooks refuses to concede loss after a $10 Stetson hat blown away by a blizzard. She traces wind direction to Rock Island tracks, drives across, climbs an embankment, and retrieves the hat for Curtis Whatley, as he regains his headwear Tuesday evening.
Six people were injured in a head on collision four miles west of Canyon on Highway 66. Joe Duckworth of 914 Bonham suffered fractures in both legs with severe contusions and was treated at Northwest Texas Hospital. Five others, including three Hereford youths, were taken to nearby hospitals with undetermined injuries.
Amarillo bus drivers local and Amarillo Bus Company officials resumed wage and working condition negotiations at the Herring Hotel. Clarence Aber said discussions remain cordial with some differences, and the final agreement will be submitted to union members for discussion and action after talks conclude.

Two armed bandits robbed the One O One Liquor Store at 101 Fillmore last night pulling a shotgun on manager Jess Willmering and a customer. They tied both inside and escaped with about $65 and a fifth of whiskey. The older bandit, 25 to 26, 5'8", weighed 150 to 160 pounds, wore a striped railroad man’s cap and trench coat. the younger, about 19, dark комплекed with long black hair, wore a cap. He meets with Amarillo manager Robert Coleman and stresses outreach beyond New York.
Lipscomb County investigators pursue an old memory of a 36 year old Higgins shooting. A California sheriff reports a suspect claiming to have killed four men in Higgins known as Two Gun Jim Kevder, using the name Jim Keser at arrest. Local officials doubt the tale and will study records before replying.
In Tokyo on November 30 the six other wartime lords and Hideki Tojo faced possible delay as General MacArthur said executions would not occur while legal appeals persist. The Supreme Court’s next session looms, with Doiho ra and Hirota among those who appealed as Tojo awaits a fate likely to be decided later. Sugamo prison and the gallows remain on standby. Mainichi reports the hangings postponed until Monday.
