Leroy Chivers 17 known as Tex is jailed in Hutchinson County on murder with malice charges for the rifle slaying of his stepmother Mrs Norman Chivers in Borger. Witnesses describe the quiet youth after the shooting about 11 AM. The district attorney filed charges and he awaiting grand jury with no bail. Mrs Chivers 34 a beauty parlor operator, died from multiple gunshot wounds in her Borger home.

Mrs. J B Wiebe 49 of Perryton and her grandson Leon Balzer about 21 of Waco were killed when their car collided with a truck on Highway 160 ten miles west of Johnson Kansas late yesterday. Wiebe died instantly Balzer died en route to Syracuse hospital. Mr and Mrs Levi McManaman of Manter were shaken but uninjured. The couple were en route to Oregon for a vacation and planned to visit two sons in Two Buttes Colorado.
