Federal judge in Columbus, Ohio rules Harry M. Runkle may recover damages from ex officials Joseph D. Birkmeyer and John L. McCarty of Estate Life Insurance Co. of Amarillo. Amount to be set at resumed trial. Runkle seeks 400000 actual and 100000 exemplary damages for alleged misrepresentation of the company’s financial status.
Five of six crash victims were in serious condition after a two car wreck eight miles north of Amarillo near the Dumas highway and Farm Road 2176. Spectators hampered rescue efforts as law officers worked nearly an hour to extract the sixth victim. Names and injuries of those hospitalized at St. Anthony's were listed, including Bob Crawford and Rose Mary Camp living near Sunray, with facial lacerations and internal injuries.
Three members of a Turpin Oklahoma family died when their car collided with an Alco Gas Co butane truck at a country road intersection near Gray Oklahoma. Patricia Lee Antrim 18 Rose Nell Antrim 54 and Samuel Vernon Antrim 59 died. Others injured included Larry Antrim 21 and truck driver Guy Hall 25 both in critical condition.
Amarillo and vicinity expect clear to partly cloudy skies today and Thursday with isolated afternoon and evening thunder showers. Temperatures little changed, morning near 65, high around 89. Panhandle and South Plains similar conditions with no major temperature changes. New Mexico sees partly cloudy today with scattered showers and thundershowers, highs 75 to 85 north and 80 to 90 south.

Four Amarillo youths plucked from a rain swollen Canadian River after a three hour search. They ditched a Navy raft near a ranch house and hitched a ride to town from a rancher after coming ashore near Mr King's home. The search, led by the Highway Patrol and Potter Sheriff Paul Gaither, was called off when the rancher notified authorities.
