Canadian August 25 Charles C Daniels 55 foreman of Anvil Park ranch died instantly when a shotgun discharged while he removed it from a closet at Mrs Baker's home. Payne Maintains Plea for Death Despite Isolation
After three weeks in Hutchinson county jail at Stinnett A D Payne the confessed slayer of his wife on June 27 says he will not plead guilty or accept a death sentence. He plans to rush indictment and trial to reach execution quickly to spare his relatives. The interview was conducted with his brother and counsels present as crowds gathered nearby and 16 prisoners were moved for transfer.
