The Gilbert Survey will publish on Friday the winning essay on Whats Right About American Youth. The winner, selected from thousands of entries received by Gilbert Surveys New York office, will be announced for High Plains and Amarillo readers.
A House group seeks supplemental planning funds with full committee review and possible swift action by both chambers this week. Rep Walter Rogers announced the move as Leon W Hill of Amarillo, head of Region 5 Bureau of Reclamation, said the money would fund designs and specifications and allow engineers to prepare for construction. If planning funds pass soon, contractors could see plans by next year and construction could begin after initial funding.
Washington UPI report shows House and Senate farm leaders bristling at President Eisenhower’s demand to cancel the windfall sugar quota given two months earlier to the Dominican Republic. Undersecretary C Douglas Dillon defended the administration stance before the House Agriculture Committee.
