James Grady Tapscott, 28, was struck by lightning while operating a tractor on a farm near Plainview at 3 o'clock. His body was found at 8:30 by a passing motorist. Hemphill county ranchmen moved nearly 2 million dollars in cattle trades over the past ten days. Dorsey and Son sold 1,000 yearling steers at 11 to 12 cents a pound, Yokely Brothers contracted 19 hundred calves 1,900 two year old steers and 850 cows for delivery between October 1 and 20. Oasis Cattle Company arranged fall sales of 2,000 yearling steers 1,900 two year old steers and 1,700 calves. Busy market sees calves 10 to 12 cents per pound with buyers in eastern and Amarillo regions. Ben Evans sold 500 two year olds to Kansas buyers. Oasis purchased 6,000 calves from locals and Yokely Brothers bought 1,000 cows and calves from Sitten Harleman for about 100 000.

Boy 14 Completes 2000 Mile Saddle Journey to President

Bank bandit slain after Pasadena bank holdup
In Pasadena California a running gun battle after a holdup at the Fair Oaks branch of Pasadena National Bank left one bandit dead and another captured.
