A 26 year old Albuquerque man, Kenneth Hayward Lloyd, was captured by Amarillo police at 3 30 p m after a 10 minute chase for an attempted hold up at the Security Federal Savings and Loan office on Taylor Street. He fired five shots during the pursuit before surrendering near Wilson School.

Perryton Woman Loses Arm in Highway 287 Crash
A Perryton woman Opal Vandargrif Evans, 46, lost her left arm in a sideswipe collision between a car and a diesel truck nine miles east of Quanah on Highway 287 at 12:45 a.m. She and her family had been returning from a McKinney reunion. The truck was driven by Frankie Joe Bailey, 27, of Aiken. No other injuries. Evans underwent amputation at Memorial Hospital. Investigation by state trooper Chester Fant and Hardeman County Attorney Rex Sullivan ongoing.

Three Die in Houston Plant Blast at Rheem
An explosion at the Rheem Manufacturing Co. oven plant in Houston killed three men and sent 12 to area hospitals. Victims were Jacob Floyd Mc Knight 55 plant superintendent Raymond W. Mobley 37 and George H. Greene 43 on his first day back from vacation. The fire damaged a block long oven used to manufacture 55 gallon barrels and other steel containers.
