Special Washington report notes Texas population of 5 891 272 in preliminary census figures will yield 20 or 21 House seats. If 21 districts, average 277 203 per district. if 20, 291 063. Panhandle oil operators adopt 25 percent proration plan

In Amarillo a Panhandle meeting approved a 90 day proration plan for wells over 50 barrels daily, with those at 50 barrels or under excluded. The plan aims near 75 000 barrels per day total from current near 100 000, despite opposition from Phillips on a minor clause.

R-100 Speeding Back Dirigible May Reach English Port Friday

On board the airship R-100 the crew reported speeds between 75 and 90 mph as it heads toward Cardington England. The voyage began from Montreal yesterday and is expected to reach home by early Saturday barring winds. The report notes the craft’s steady progress and potential record eastward crossing.

Hondo man convicted in Bradshaw murder case

Homer Edwards was found guilty in the 48th district court of murder in the death of John W. Bradshaw. Bradshaw's body was retrieved from the Guadalupe River near Waring on April 10. Edwards received a life sentence in the penitentiary after a jury verdict returned at 6 p.m.

Amarillo Tops Nation in Business Conditions

Amarillo shows strong business health in July according to the Babson survey and Nation's Business map. The Babson rating places Amarillo among 26 cities with favorable conditions and as the sole Texas city with the highest rating. The Nation's map marks Amarillo as one of eight white spots nationwide and one of two in Texas. Other top spots include Tulsa and Oklahoma City in nearby states, with Maine the only eastern location.

Drought Relief Plan Unveiled At White House Conference

At the White House governors conference a new drought relief framework was agreed to, uniting federal state and county committees to prevent livestock losses aid farm families and protect public health.
