Boise City Oklahoma August 15 A one hour chase at speeds over 100 miles per hour ended with a gun battle by Dalhart and Boise City officers. Policeman Jerry Gentry was wounded by a bullet through the windshield but released after treatment. A five state search continues for a red and white 1957 car occupied by two men. Police pursued the fleeing vehicle from Boise City to near Dalhart before it escaped.
Amarillo defeats Austin San Antonio 6 to 3 while Ardmore and Victoria have unknown results. In American League Washington toppled New York 12 to 4 as Minnesota beat Detroit 13 to 5 and Chicago won 9 to 3 over Kansas City. Los Angeles blanked Cleveland behind a 8 to 6 score in the other AL game. In the National League Cincinnati beat San Francisco 8 to ? and Philadelphia routed Milwaukee 8 to 3. Chicago won 3 to 8 at St Louis, while Los Angeles defeated St Louis 8 to 0.

Two teenage girls missing since Friday night were found shot to death Sunday in a ranch pasture 12 miles northwest of Carlsbad. Victims identified as Patty Sue Pritz, 14, and Mattie Restine, 13.
