Third Albuquerque escapee captured in Oklahoma City
FBI agents and Oklahoma City police captured John Ray Fletcher, 25, of Waukomis, Oklahoma, the third of five prisoners who overpowered guards at Bernalillo County jail in Albuquerque on Aug. 1. Fletcher faced interstate transportation of a stolen motor vehicle and jail escape warrants and was to appear before a U.S. magistrate in Oklahoma City. Barrett and Stewart, both of Dallas, and Eduardo Garcia, 20, of Riverside, California, along with Tony Garcia, 21, with no address, remain sought or recaptured. Garcia was detained in Las Cruces and Barrett in Amarillo.

About 600 riot police separated roughly 500 black and 1,000 white demonstrators at Carson Beach in South Boston where rocks bottles and bricks flew. Eight people were arrested and two officers injured as mounted police and vehicles tried to restore order during a two hour clash tied to school desegregation and access to public facilities.
