Dalhart hosts the second annual XIT reunion as crowds fill hotel lobbies the day before the event. Cowboys from distant camps and towns mingle with old friends and swap range stories, with many attending church services led by Rev. John W. Myer.
Government experts warn that war in Asia could halt most trade with China and Japan under the neutrality act. In 1936 US exports to Japan reached 204 million and imports 171 million. exports to China 46 million and imports 74 million. Major trade routes centered on Shanghai and Tientsin, with Tientsin shipments at 2.5 million and exports to the US including raw wool and other goods.

Culpepper drove and failed to negotiate a curve. The party was bound for Wichita Falls. Culpeppers treated in Electra hospital. others remained.
Dr. Kallis Campbell, 65, longtime University of Texas faculty member and Poe scholar, died in Austin after an 11 month illness. He joined UT in 1899 and taught until last year when he suffered a stroke.
In Hudson Falls New York on August 8 13 year old George Dorvee was held on a first degree murder warrant for killing his 15 year old brother Claude during a quarrel over a squirt gun. George tearfully said he did not mean to do it.
Hoosier Hot Shots join the national barn dance from WLS Chicago at the Tri State Fair in Amarillo September 1925. The act, famed for rustic tunes and comedy since 1923, will headline nightly with NBC radio cast shows, joining Al G Barnes circus and Beutler Brothers rodeo attractions.

Scattered showers fell across the Panhandle last night and Sunday afternoon. About 7 o’clock the Panhandle towns of Black and Hereford reported about a quarter inch of rain. An hour later Memphis Clarendon and Pampa reported showers with light sprinkles at Canadian Adrian and Tucumcari.
About 500 tickets sold for the Preventorium benefit dance at the Nat. Proceeds support Amarillo's Preventorium. The Junior Business Women's Club sponsors the drive. Tickets are 40 cents each from any member. Miss Ethel Hicks leads the club. Music by Henry Durst's orchestra.
The government says insurgent troops rose in Toledo near Madrid with Italian fighters aiding to quell the disorders. Officials believe the insurgents are concentrating volunteers in Toledo to threaten Aranjuez, 30 miles south of Madrid.
A fire last night destroyed a number of small houses at El Salto in Durango state. Details were not immediately available as of today when the Government National Telegraph notified the press.
The nine month old Blanton disappearance case opens a court of inquiry in Raymondville. Judge McCharen says the case will be solved and urges witnesses to talk. Assistant Attorney General George Kirkpatrick and two veteran rangers join the probe, linking to the Clyde Barrow era policing background.
Eight survivors of a China National Aviation Company air liner wreck off the South China coast were rescued by a Chinese customs cruiser and rushed to Hongkong aboard the British destroyer Thracian. The missing trio included a Russian co pilot and two Chinese crew. weather and fog were cited as factors.

Senate leaders privately said they hoped to give President Roosevelt definite assurance Monday that general farm legislation would be considered in early January. Southern House members seeking cotton loans reported Roosevelt said approval required a promise that production control legislation would be enacted at the start of the next Congress.
