Pete the Pirate Injured by Studio Crowd on KGNC Show

Ill Yanks Among 70 Returned PWs In Armistice Exchange

On August 6 1953 at Panmunjom 392 Allied prisoners including 70 Americans were exchanged and returned from North Korea. Many were sick crippled or emaciated. one South Korean died on arrival. British POWs appeared in good condition. A 32 year old Clovis New Mexico native Lt Col Thomas Harrison was among those released after serving since 1950 as a jet fighter squadron commander.

Big 4 Offer By Reds Eyed As Booby Trap

U S officials began examining Russia's counter proposal for a Big Four meeting with caution. The State Department said the Soviet note from July 15 on German unification leaves a path forward but is clouded by Western ties with Red China. The British and French Foreign Offices will be consulted before replying to Moscow. The U S also challenged Soviet denial of responsibility for the July 29 B50 crash, demanding compensation for the loss of the aircraft and crew.

Army Sergeant Returns Home To West Texas Teacher Life

A sergeant with a degree in agriculture from West Texas Pate College in Canyon plans to teach when home. He will be processed at Fort Lawton within 24 hours and then proceed to Fort Bliss for discharge. It marks two years since his college graduation and 15 months since departing for Korea.
