NBC plans a flexible 1959 60 season with three regular hour long specials weekly plus extra time for unplanned features. Bob Hope will host six hour long shows, many specials in color, operas, a Bonanza western, color NCAA football and World Series coverage, plus more news background and sports features.
Dalhart plans to feed 300 to 500 people at a fly-in breakfast next Saturday as about 100 planes from five states are expected. Earl Wilbur the local banker says ham and eggs will be served to the crowd. The event reflects the town’s shift from cowboy lore to aviation activity.
Three youths ages 16 and 14 from Plainview and Tulsa attached a red light to a car on U S Highway 70 and issued lectures on safe driving. They were taken into custody by highway patrol and fined 25.50 with costs in justice court. The case underscored risks of youths acting as police assistants.
Vice President Nixon, ending a 15 day swing through the Soviet bloc, urged unity against racial and religious hatreds and called for freer exchange of ideas. He visited Warsaw's largely rebuilt Jewish ghetto site and laid a wreath at a mass grave in the Palmirky Forest where 2000 Poles were killed by Nazis.

U S Weather Bureau reports partly cloudy and hot conditions with a high near 98 and low around 72 in Amarillo and vicinity. New Mexico forecast shows partly cloudy skies with afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms and high temperatures from 80 to 95 in the northwest and 90 to 105 in the south and east.
Randall County grand jury votes 6 to 2 against a resolution urging an immediate study of combining Potter and Randall counties. The panel returned 16 indictments and heard pleas of guilty in several burglary cases, including counts at Canyon High School and Mills Gulf Service Station, with sentences ranging up to penitentiary terms and adult probation.
Washington August 4 A labor bill drafted for House action draws sharp opposition with critics claiming it is too weak to curb union racketeers while others say it aims at destroying organized labor. The House Rules Committee weighs procedures as tensions rise between Democrats Phil Landrum and Ray Madden during the fiery session. Chairman Graham Barden urges the panel to allow amendments to strengthen the bill. Madden criticizes the measure as too lax and attacks its intent.
The Senate Rackets Committee declared Hoffa’s leadership the most shameless abuse of trust among labor leaders, warning it could wreck the labor movement. Justice Frankfurter declined to stay a court-ordered monitor system policing Hoffa’s presidency as the union failed to overturn the monitors’ program and appeals continued.
Randall County sheriff's office filed theft over 50 dollars charges against Wendell Shannon Loar for a 4 year old burglary at a South Amarillo firm. Loar is jailed in Austin on forgery charges. a warrant and detainer seek his return to Randall County based on handwriting analysis.
