Four Million Acres Treated in Dalhart SCS Project
The Soil Conservation Service reports in region VI that about 3.25 million privately owned acres in the Southern Great Plains have received soil and water conservation treatment since the Dalhart start in 1934. Over 1 million acres were treated in the past fiscal year ending July 1, with restoration work on roughly 850,000 acres of severely eroded sub-marginal lands bought by the Department of Agriculture. Sharp shooting sheriff killed in rural Texas gunfight
Cherokees sharp shooting Sheriff Bill Brunt and a tavern keeper were killed in an early morning gun battle on the Rusk Jacksonville highway. Myrtle Stanley 25 the only witness faced murder charges saying Brunt and Creel shot at each other as the car was halted. Lightning Strikes Kill Four Horses Near Plainview
