In Warsaw a 250000 strong applauding crowd greeted Vice President Richard Nixon upon arrival from Moscow. The cheering Poles waved flowers and sang Bravo America signaling strong Western sympathy despite Communist rule.
Sheriff officers say a pretty 18 year old, Ellen Harris, and her 18 year old boyfriend Paul McBane passed a thousand dollars in bad checks at Sacramento markets. Harris admits a smile-flash technique to cash checks as she studies criminology and police work.
Cliff C. Wimberly 68 longtime Vega civic leader rancher and banker died at 11 15 p m Saturday in Northwest Texas Hospital Amarillo after he and son Jon Cooper were thrown from horses while corralling cattle on the Wimberly ranch north of Adrian Wimberly born July 1 1891 in Stephens County had been Oldham County resident since 1918 He was Vega mayor for 14 years and held multiple community and banking roles Survivors include his wife Mary Jane son Jon Cooper Wimberly brother Carl V Wimberly sisters Mrs L G Connor and Mrs Marjorie Douglas and one granddaughter Burial will be in Vega Memorial Park.
Four members of an Amarillo family were injured and a Dallas couple died in a head on crash near Springfield Missouri on a Saturday morning. The dead are Mr and Mrs Robert Walter Sieving of Dallas. Their son Bobby is in serious condition with leg fractures at Springfield hospital. James B Qualls district supervisor of the Interstate Commerce Commission and Lois Qualls with two children James Jr 14 and Nancy 8 are hospitalized at St Johns in Springfield in serious condition with a broken arm and head lacerations.
New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller stated at a Puerto Rico conference he is not a candidate for the 1960 Republican nomination under present conditions. He left open the possibility that changed circumstances could alter his stance, while noting he would not preclude any future decision.

Eight year old Ed Webb Jr. ran away to hike in the Hot Springs area. He walked three miles in 95 degree heat in a bathing suit with a winter coat and raincoat plus a Cub Scout lunch.
