A Swanson, manager of Julian Petroleum's New York office, was arrested on grand larceny charges amid the company's collapse. The reported $100,000,000 loss to investors prompted bail set at $20,000 while awaiting word from Los Angeles where he was named in indictments.
In Texas 108 counties tabulated by the Associated Press shows constitution amendments decisively defeated. Proposals covering an expanded judiciary, tax source diversification, fee abolition for county officers, and governor salary increase failed with large majorities against them. Voter turnout was light across counties including the Panhandle and Carson, with margins around four to one against the measures.
Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti enter a critical week in their bid to avoid the electric chair. Potter County voters rejected all four proposed constitutional changes with heavy opposition to the taxation amendment at 329 to 29. The judicial reform measure drew 162 yes votes against 193 no, while the fee system and salary amendments lost by wide margins. About 10 percent turnout, most residents indifferent to the amendments.
New Orleans reports July U S cotton exports to foreign countries excluding Canada totaled 393 508 bales, up from 361 880 a year earlier. Britain took 46 714 bales versus 61 127, France 25 599 versus 1 967, Germany 73 292 versus 93 196, rest of Europe 16 466 versus 131 938, while exports to Japan China and Mexico reached 86 437 bales vs 63 663 last year.

Aimee Semple McPherson and her mother Mrs. Minnie Kennedy reached peace terms after a two hour meeting. Kennedy will quit active management at Angelus Temple, McPherson to take full control. The announcement showed the dove of peace over Angelus temple as both sides said general agreement was reached.
