Capt Frank M Gray of the 461st Combat Defense Squadron Amarillo Air Force Base was killed when his four passenger Piper Tri pulsed and burned two miles southwest of Elk City about 10 30 p m The plane had a Fort Smith Arkansas to Amarillo flight plan and was owned by the Panhandle Flying Club of Amarillo Officials at Hobart Flight Service said they spoke with Gray shortly before the crash and he reported no trouble The crash site was in a cotton field near the Dallas Bruce farm house. Mrs Bruce and neighbor Ted Cromwell provided eye details.
In Everett Washington an AP report describes a deputy taking a domestic call about 50 cattle wandering near a home. The caller identified as Mrs Rosemarie Moo spelling her surname M G O. Deputies rounded up the cattle and traced the owner.
The Senate Ethics Committee will hold open hearings on the relationship between Sen. Thomas J. Dodd and Julius Klein, an American agent for German interests. The six member panel said dates and witnesses will be announced as they appear.
Washington AP. Lincoln White, longtime State Department spokesman, retires. Secretary Dean Rusk conveys regret at his departure. White gained international recognition as the Washington spokesman on U.S. foreign policy and had served as consul-general in Melbourne in 1963. He returned to Washington last year to handle scientific affairs.
