The Amarillo plan to distribute surplus commodities through retail channels depends on establishing a 4000 dollar revolving fund for the city to buy orange stamps sold to pensioners and relief recipients. The fund would enable stamps to be used as cash by retailers and banks, with blue stamps issued free to relief recipients.

Irvin Bownds a 38 year old bank cashier was found dead in the Lorenzo bank vault after a daytime theft. He died from a head blow and throat knife wounds with the motive and killer unknown. Bank officials and Crosby County officers reported no witnesses and the body was discovered around 1 PM.
The House voted 74 to 38 to make overtime rules under the wage-hour law more flexible for salaried workers with at least six months in an office or plant. In a 26 week period, average weekly hours must not exceed 42, but some weeks may exceed this without overtime if the six month average stays at 42. The move leaves the current $0.30 minimum and time and a half for over 42 hours intact elsewhere. The vote was tentative and may be revisited with final action expected later this week alongside farm payment appropriations and agriculture department revisions.
