Santa Fe adds special car to Last Train West through Amarillo
A special 70 seat passenger car will be hooked onto the Last Train West to Clovis and will depart from Amarillo with limited reservations. Legal actions and House Senate drives may delay Amtrak and the final run of passenger trains, but the SF Chief will still reach Amarillo on schedule at 5 30 a m CDT. Tickets for the extra car are available at the Amarillo Santa Fe Station and must be picked up by midnight Friday. Mrs Jimi Konis of 712 W 17th pushed for seats for Panhandle passengers.

HUD Funds Tentatively Approved for Amarillo Gardens
HUD announced a tentative 1.2 million dollar federal funding plan for a Southeast Amarillo low income housing project. International Cooperatives Inc. of Austin sponsors Amarillo Gardens with 100 units including one to four bedroom apartments on a two block site bounded by Roberts Williams SE 14th and SE 16th. The $142,000 rent subsidies are the first step toward construction with a final commitment expected today or Friday.

The New Mexico Railroad Authority signed a six month concession with Scenic Railways Inc of Los Altos California to run the Chama New Mexico to Antonito Colorado Narrow Gauge line beginning May 1.
