Officers and delegates for the 5th division and auxiliaries were elected, with George Broome of Amarillo chosen as national delegate and Rev. Bry an H. Keathley delivering the address. An estimated 1,200 heard Keathley speak on life beyond war as Perryton received praise for its hospitality.

Lady Bell the palomino mare that drew crowds at the Sportsmans Show has been sold with her blood brother colt King Gold to Guy L. Waggoner of Texas and New Mexico. Lady Bell will be shipped to Hollywood to be ridden by Gene Autry, while King Gold heads to the Waggoner Ranch in New Mexico. The sale price marked one of Amarillo’s record sums. The horses will depart in six to seven days and be stabled at 3800 Harrison Street after her farewell appearance at the Junior League Follies. In Austin, Gov. W Lee O’Daniel blamed professional politicians for Leon Huff and Kermit Whalin leaving his Hillbilly band, while denying any direct political involvement in their resignations.

Mrs. Cora Beverley long time Amarillo resident and civic worker died at her home in Sunset Terrace. Born 1860 in San Antonio she helped map the city streets and was a charter member of several organizations including the Old School Presbyterian Church and the Panhandle Old Settlers Club. Funeral services planned at Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. R. Thomson presiding.
