Bus Crash Kills Driver. 12 Injured In Shamrock Area
A Sumnerwood School bus carrying 25 students crashed into an iron bridge railing 14 miles southwest of Shamrock. Driver Gyron Laycock, 22, died after arrival at Shamrock General Hospital. Twelve pupils were injured, eight in Shamrock General and four in the Clinic Hospital.

Recluse Spann Charged With Assault on 7 Year Old
J W Spann a recluse held since arrest yesterday was charged with criminally attacking a seven year old girl. A large crowd gathered at Willacy County court delaying a preliminary hearing while Spann proclaimed his innocence and police pursued the case after the girl's description led to his arrest.
