Plainview hosts the District Two-T Lions convention starting tomorrow led by F Alatorre of Lions International Mexico with Rafael de la Colina the Mexican consul general present. About 140 delegates registered as delegations arrive from Childress Big Spring and other cities. Ralph Randel Panhandle and Jimmy Greene Colorado vie for district governor.

Harding Rainey, 26, of New Boston, died when the car he rode in skidded off a highway and plunged into a ditch near Spring Lake Park two miles north of Texarkana. Joe Gibbons a 42 year old former carpenter of American Smelter Company is reported improving after a Saturday morning shooting by his wife Jimmie at their home 803 Lincoln Street. Jimmie Gibbons is free on $750 bond charged with assault with intent to murder. The bullet hit his left temple lodging near his right ear and he was unconscious for hours at St Anthony's Hospital.
