Two Lubbock men are jailed in Muleshoe as suspects in last week’s robbery of the Muleshoe State Bank. One ex convict, held since Wednesday, is identified by two women who were in the bank when masked gunmen stole 1642.27 dollars. The other suspect was arrested in Lubbock tonight. No charges filed yet.
Governor Miriam A. Ferguson urged the Legislature to create a seven member State Rehabilitation Commission to cooperate with the federal government in relief and rehabilitation. The bill sets two year terms, a $100000 appropriation, and appointments by the Governor Lieutenant Governor and House Speaker. Local official Aubrey Williams and Reconstruction Finance Corporation agent Lawrence Westbrook backed the plan saying it could improve access to federal funds and enroll about 11750 unemployed youths in Texas projects.
The Texas Legislature passed a bill to aid landowners in foreclosure cases. It allows defendants to claim the sale value was below true value, enabling a jury to set the real value and limit liability for the shortfall. The measure, sponsored by Rep. J. J. Greathouse, moves to the governor for action.
Senator McAdoo of California introduced a bill to authorize the issue of up to eight billion dollars in United States notes to refund the government's short term debt maturing within the next five years.
A jury convicted S. W. Thompson today for the April 6 killing of William Privett east of Raymondville and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Privett was shot while sitting in his automobile on a highway.

Judge Randolph Bryant amended the order to keep East Texas wells shut in until 7 AM Monday. The extension follows tests on 300 key wells, with 60 allowed to flow briefly to gather data for a new proration rule. Neal Powers and the commission press for a workable order amid court challenges.
