Russian witness testified that C Thornton headed a wartime plan to paralyze Moscow electric stations serving the Kremlin and key factories. Thornton denied the charge, saying he never spoke to Sukovuchkin or paid him.
William T. Ponder of Fort Worth appeals a felony liquor smuggling conviction. He was sentenced to six months in the La Tuna federal detention camp and a year's suspended sentence plus a $1,000 fine. An appeal bond released him pending the Fifth Circuit review in New Orleans. He was convicted for importing 80 gallons of alcohol from Mexico by air on November 18.
Justice John P.F. Onion issues a subpoena directing Jack R. Burke to appear in justice court to account for missing original entry cash books from December 1 1920 to December 31 1928. County Attorney D F. Davis seeks these records for an audit evaluation while Burke faces an indictment for misappropriating a $7000 trust fund.

Berlin orders Ambassador Leopold Von Hoesch to protest to Great Britain after British lawmakers criticized Germany in the House of Commons. The German government acts on behalf of the Reich while many cabinet members are away from Berlin and unavailable by telephone.

Sought in the slaying of peace officers in Joplin are Clyde and Buck Barrow as authorities from three states converge. Their mother denies the charges, stating her sons have never taken a life and claims they are framed. Buck, released from Texas prison weeks ago, had no parole papers found in a Joplin house.
Two peace officers, J. W. Harryman and Harry McGinnis, were shot and killed in a house in Joplin. Authorities offered rewards totaling 600 dollars for the capture of Ivy Buck Barrrow and the other gunman. Newton, Jasper counties, and Joplin city council posted rewards of 100, 100, and 200 dollars respectively, with Gov. Park to consider an additional reward.
