The body of 53 year old A M Downs, a former Wheeler veterinarian and farmer, was found in a cane patch 2 1/2 miles east of Wheeler. Identification by his son Audrey Downs, along with clothing and a suitcase, suggests the man may be Downs though investigators weigh murder, exposure, or suicide. Fingerprints were sent to Austin for positive ID.
