Washington reports the Senate advanced a broad revenue bill raising taxes on inheritances gifts and corporate earnings. It adopted Borah amendments while boosting estate and gift tax rates and outlining multiple revenue provisions totaling hundreds of millions yearly.
Don Hill of Los Angeles defeated Otis Clingman of Amarillo in a long clean exhibition at the Armory. Hill captured the first fall in 1 hour 45 minutes as Clingman failed to score in the final 15 minutes under the new two hour limit law.
Fair to warm conditions expected Friday for Amarillo and surrounding West Texas areas. West of the 190th meridian will be partly cloudy and warmer, while eastern New Mexico sees generally fair skies with rising temperatures. Local hourly data show daytime highs near 84 in the region, with overnight lows around 45 to 60.
Two men suspected of being Raymond Hamilton battered Bryan Camp at a gravel pit near Little River seven miles from Temple. They changed clothes, threatened to kill, tied a rope around him, and left him stunned. Sheriff and rangers pursued. Hamilton, an ex convict tied to Clyde Barrow, is wanted for bank robbery and other crimes.
President Roosevelt traveled back to the capital after two weeks on the tropics, saying he had a marvelous rest. Gen. Hugh S. Johnson said the President signaled general agreement on the Wagner labor board bill but would not decide on NRA licensing extending beyond next June.

A new townsite named Bélco is being opened in the Wheeler County oil and gas field. It lies 15 miles west and 10 miles north of Shamrock on the Fort Worth and Denver line between Childress and Pampa, with the Wheeler-Gray County line running through the site.
April 12 three men arrested at a Perry Oklahoma tourist camp were being questioned over a $34,000 robbery of the Security State Bank of Sterling Colorado. Suspects Asa G Smiley 47 Ernest Millsap 31 both of Seminole Oklahoma and Dolph Tuck 27 of Fort Worth Texas were captured after being traced from Billings 28 miles from Perry. Officers said the group had five revolvers in their sedan but only a small amount of change.
The filing of a suit to test the claims of R L Holliday of El Paso and Col Julius Dorenhield Jr Amarillo to a Texas Relief Commission seat was delayed as Attorney General Allred seeks the proper court. He hopes the case may reach the Supreme Court though district court remains possible.
Senator Warren R. Austin said independent airlines formed a society last year to push cancellation of domestic mail contracts, claiming testimony before the Senate air mail committee proves the motive. In Rawlins Wyoming Parco town built by Producers and Refiners Corp with a $10 million cost sold at auction to Consolidated Oil Corp for $1.775 million.

Secretary Ickes announced Dr William A Wirt asked for public works funds for a $2 000 000 Lake Michigan beach project on land owned by Dune Acres Inc where Wirt is president The project touted merry go rounds yacht harbors and towers Wirt later said no one connected with Dune Acres Inc was connected with the company that sought the funds.
Federal authorities traced Dillinger and his gang as the crime wave spread across multiple states. Evelyn Precnett and Eugene Green were central figures with others remaining at large, amid murder, kidnapping, and robbery charges tied to at least five deaths and half a million dollars. Green died after a March 31 gun battle. Hamilton and Precnett faced arrest warrants in connection with the Crown Point jailbreak.
The Senate Investigating committee heard Skelly Oil propose a plan to stop gas waste and give producers a ratable market. Endorsements came from Lone Star Gas, the carbon black industry and Phillips Petroleum, contingent on pipeline approval. The plan seeks repeal of stripping laws, unitization, ratable gas purchases, and strict gas oil ratios to curb waste before Austin convenes.
