Texas lawmakers warned energy shortages could push gasoline to $1 a gallon by 1974 and cost $1 to $2 million next year for state fleet needs. Sen. AUSTIN AP The State Insurance Board ordered voluntary rate cuts on fire homeowners and extended policies allowing insurers to file deviations from standard rates to compete. Chair Joe Christie said conditions changed since 1964 when deviations were blocked and many firms awaited the move. The board could approve requests within a week or 10 days after solvency and loss experience reviews.
