A forest fire breached backfire lines near Broken Bow Oklahoma threatening the 10 000 acre state game preserve. Forester Paul Roeber of Dierks Forests Inc says the latest blaze east of the preserve in McCurtain County has burned over 3000 acres in the Bull Creek area.
The Army plans to bring about 15 000 highly trained enlisted men back from Europe to aid domestic buildup. Europe forces will drop to about 210 000 by midyear and rise to roughly 225 000 by year end. Returning soldiers will join units or train draftees and recruits. Tours overseas may shorten from 24 to 21 months in this move.
Donna Wingenreih, 5, accidentally ingested a cube of LSD saturated sugar from a foil wrapped cube in a Brooklyn kitchen. She was treated at Kings County Hospital. The uncle, Franklin, is charged with endangering a minor and possessing drugs. He says the cube was for an experiment.
