Normal Senior Is Named Head Canyon School
A D Payne, senior at West Texas State Normal College, was elected head of Canyon City's public school at a Friday night board meeting. He will take the position next September, succeeding C L Lone, who resigned. Payne, 30, has nine years teaching experience, earned an AB, and last quarter carried six subjects with five A’s and one B while teaching Latin and debating for the Normal. He was born in Williamson County, Texas, and has taught in Callihan Howard Hale and King counties. He met his wife Eea Johnson at the Normal in 1915.
