Rig builder killed over house rental in Longview
John McClellan, 40, a Houston transplanted rig builder, was shot nine times at his Longview residence during a dispute over a rental house. Ben H. Lankford of Hobbs, NM, operated a nearby restaurant and was taken into custody with admission that he killed McClellan. Deputies reported the slaying followed a quarrel between the couples’ wives over the home they shared.
