A violent wind ripped a quarter mile path through Vancouver Washington. At least six people were killed and two area hospitals treated about 300 injured. An elementary school was flattened and the walls of a building collapsed as the storm roared through the area.
A powerful windstorm in Vancouver Oregon area collapses a discount store and bowling alley, killing six and injuring many more. A 25 year old woman a 5 year old daughter and her one year old son died in the department store parking lot while two others inside the store perished. A 30 year old woman died inside the bowling alley. School fatalities were avoided at Peter S Ogden Elementary where 556 students enrolled. Coroner Arch Hamilton placed confirmed deaths at six after earlier tolls of seven. Emergency rooms reported hundreds treated at St Josephs and Vancouver Memorial hospitals as the storm damaged a wide suburban swath near Portland Oregon.
About 64 lot holders led by Randall County Commissioner Jim Fletcher sue Lake Tanglewood Inc in 181st District Court over a dues increase. The petition names James R. McKenzie as registered agent and notes a March 24 letter seeking a vote to raise dues from $20 to $59 with a 400 plus 200 member cap.
Baltimore report says Dita D Beard told Rep Bob Wilson she wrote a memo linking financing of the Republican National Convention to settlement of an antitrust suit against ITT The Sun says Wilson cited Merriam admitting promoting the memo and that Beard testified March 26 in Denver hospital.
