A murder scene 10 miles east of Benton Harbor Michigan yielded the mutilated bodies of two women and a girl discovered Sunday in a wooded area. Police and investigators staged a large response as officials pursued leads in the case.
A second earthquake in six days hits Greece near the Peloponnese, killing at least 20 and injuring about 200. A state of emergency is declared in three southern provinces as rescue efforts continue.

The Texas Senate approved an 85 million dollar student loan fund for state and private colleges. Arlington State College would move from the A&M System to the University of Texas System. A bill would require barbers to complete a 12 month training program.
My Fair Lady won best picture and eight awards at Hollywood's Oscars. George Cukor directed, while Peter Ustinov and Lila Kedrova won supporting prizes in Zorba the Greek. Harrison and Audrey Hepburn shared an ironic moment as Hepburn presented, sparking cheers and a light bow to Miss Andrews.
In Arkansas, skin divers guided four trapped explorers to safety from a flooded cave near Rowland cave. One diver died at the cave mouth after helping the last of the four evacuees. The Navy identified the deceased as Chief Damage Controlman Lyle E. Thomas, a 22 year veteran with 14 years diving experience, part of a three man team flown from Washington. The seven divers led the group through 200 feet of water filled passage to safety and all four explorers emerged in good shape despite exposure.
President Johnson asked Congress to authorize new farm stabilization programs shifting costs from the treasury to consumers. The bill would lift bread by about one penny per loaf and rice by five to seven cents per pound, with wheat products rising as well. House and Senate Agriculture Committee leaders described it as a move to restore parity pricing for domestic wheat use.
American aircraft blasted the Vinh Linh radar station in South Vietnam and damaged North Vietnamese rolling stock. A fighter bomber was downed but the pilot was recovered. Sixteen Air Force jets struck rail and highway targets farther north with cannon and rockets, destroying a diesel train and torching a locomotive and two trucks. The pilot’s condition was not learned.
Police pursue a sex motivated multiple slaying case in southwest Michigan. Victims include Diane Carter seven Mrs Olin Boyer 60 and Esther Jones 37 found in a pine grove near Watervliet Orchard. Detectives tie the suspected killer to Delores Young 19 found in a burned home and hunt clues from a green four door sedan.
District Judge EE Jordan convened a new grand jury of 16 all women selected by a three man commission. Foreman Mrs Lynn Boomer leads the Claude jury with members from Claude Wayside and Goodnight. The judge noted he has never seen an all woman panel in his decade on the bench.
