Raft Trip on Canadian River Ends in Tragedy
A 20 year old Amarillo man, George F. Arnold Jr., died hours after a raft trip on the Canadian River ended near U.S. 287. His companion, 19 year old Terry Bird, was hospitalized in satisfactory condition with exposure. The outing started at 9 a.m. Sunday in 40 degree weather and ended in sleet and rain five miles west of U.S. 287.
