Last March collected fats in Amarillo and Potter County totaled 192 258 pounds, a national record per family and per person. Waste fats salvage director Lewis Fields welcomed the milestone and cited a letter from Alexander Williams praising the community's cooperation and extraordinary per person figures.

Buffalo Herd Gets New Start On Texas Ranch
The renowned Goodnight buffalo herd, once saved from extinction, begins a new phase with 12 calves six heifers and six bulls grazing on J H Doty and Fred Carson’s ranch at Bovina. Additional stock moved to the ranch while the Doty Packing Company sold 13 cows for slaughter. Eighteen to twenty buffalo remain on Hedgecoke estate land and JA ranch canyons. The herd traces to Colonel and Mrs Goodnight who bred cattalo alongside cattle. Carson and partner aim to keep a small herd and test a bull for each cow theory while buffalo meat draws interest.
