Hanson Post Loyal to Legion's Growth in Amarillo
Hanson Post No. 64, American Legion, Department of Texas, organized July 1, 1919, under Colonel Ernest O. Thompson who became its first Commander. The post, named for Dr. David T. Hanson killed in action, traces its early history to Amarillo ex-servicemen meeting at the Potter County courthouse to support veterans’ welfare and national Legion efforts.
