General Harribon and the Whig stance in national politics

It surveys party discipline, calls for adherence to principle, and notes Michigan banks resuming specie payments and a push to expunge the Declaration of Independence from Congress journals as Whig policy signals.

A Tough Goose Returns From Under Ice
A Gloucester shire goose, lost last winter after diving under pond ice, reappeared five weeks later as a rotted skeleton in the water. The bird survived by daily watering of the horse, breathing through a space between ice and water, and regained life after wary kitchen encounters. Dr Morris, once Major of Toronto, faced high treason charges and was acquitted.
