Act to Incorporate the City of Alton Illinois
The act provides for the incorporation of the City of Alton, defines boundaries, wards, and city powers. It establishes a mayoral and aldermanic government, elections, finances, taxation, public works, schools, courts, and municipal officers. It sets procedures for road labor taxes, street paving, jury service, and recording deeds. The act authorizes a municipal court and appoints officers, with provisions for bonds, duties, and governance under state law. Approved July 21, 1057.
