Beech or LeCaron testified before the Parnell commission that in 1881 the B C society discussed dynamite operations and training for engineering study. Alexander Sullivan met with LeCaron in Chicago about secret alliances and future warfare plans including sending men to England for dynamite activity.

Walter B Bradley a Chicago Daily Globe reporter shoots and kills his wife at the Hotel Courtland on Adams Street, then dies by suicide. The couple, recently quarrelling, were found in the parlor after the first shots. hotel staff and police recovered both bodies. Bradley, a known drinker, had been in conflict with his spouse over money. The related notes describe prior threats and a separate incident of Bradley choking his wife the night before.
Belle Starr, famed border outlaw and alleged organizer of murders and train robberies, was killed near Eutala, Indian Territory. The death reportedly came from a deputy marshal shooting during arrest or from a rival's gunfire during a drunken confrontation. Born in Carthage Missouri, she led raids with Cole Younger and Jim Starr and spent years as a feared figure on the Canadian River frontier.
A gas explosion at the Perryn shaft in Pittston on Tuesday morning killed John Kebn and Michael David and seriously injured George Stevens. The trio were drilling rock when the air apparatus failed and gas accumulated. All were married with large families.
