Smiley Brothers announces December 18 sale to close out their entire stock. The advertisement promises clearance pricing and urges customers to act quickly to take advantage of the limited stock and reduced prices.
The shop announces no 30 day sale and no arrivals before April. They will sell current stock at the lowest prices to stay in business and invite customers to visit to compare prices.
A group of youths led by George Williams, 19, carried out burglaries in Brinccroft and Stamford. Williams turned State's evidence, aiding prosecutions of four accomplices who faced Superior Court for burglary and highway robbery. The gang, tied to the Railroad Avenue Club, planned raids from a basement meeting place and attempted more heists including a Beers Devean office job and a Beers father security risk.

They favored not more than 10 million dollars and perhaps as low as 9 million, far below the engineer estimates of about 86 million. The plan is to average roughly one fourth of the engineers’ estimates for active projects while excluding purely local work. The panel will meet four days weekly and aims to report by late April or early May, with funds made available immediately.
