Townsend 26 Dies After Long Illness in Brownsville Campaign War Service
Joe Belora Townsend died at his sister Mrs O H Hector’s home on Sept 25 1904 aged 26 years 28 days after a five month malarial fever illness contracted while in the Spanish American War. He left a father Capt W W Townsend mother Margaret Townsend two brothers and four sisters. He enlisted early in the conflict and served in Capt John Green’s company later with Capt Hughs in Brownsville. He was born in Colorado county and lived in Eagle Pass where the family resides. He was brave noble warm hearted and beloved by many friends.
