Safeway reports 36 week period ending Sept 19 1980 with earnings per share of 65 cents after preferred dividends and aggregate tax provisions. Sales for the 38 week period totalled 1 690 151 426 compared with 1 607 37 for the prior year, a 5 1 percent gain. Texas potato growers asked to cut 1961 spring potato rate by 1 percent per USDA guidance for southern states.

Parents Working For Children Can Get Social Security Help
About 25 000 parents working for their sons or daughters in trade or business will be covered for the first time under social security. The 1960 amendments keep home work non covered, but work for a son or daughter in a trade or business can be covered if a bona fide employer employee relationship exists. Parents may gain additional credits toward retirement survivors and disability benefits. Those new to social security cards must apply, with wages reported by April 30, 1961, and numbers entered on form 33. Contact the Odessa social security office at 1428 Bath St. or call Federal 29423.
