National Safety Council reports 1952 accident facts with 96,000 deaths and 9,600,000 injuries. One person injured every three seconds, deaths every five minutes, and four highway deaths per hour with 150 injuries per hour. Also notes ribs do not move in snake locomotion.
Texas Game and Fish Commission released a statewide overview of fall hunting seasons. Doves open Sept 1 to Oct 10 in the North zone with limits of 10 per day and in possession, White-Winged Doves on Sept 11 to 16, Antelope Oct 1 to 9 west of Pecos and Oct 20 to 24 and Oct 27 to 31 in the Panhandle with a buck limit, Waterfowl Nov 6 to Jan 4 with varied daily and possession limits, Deer Nov 16 to Dec 31 and Panhandle dates in November, Turkeys Nov 14 to 23 in Panhandle with limits, Quail Dec 1 to Jan 16 and December West of Pecos with tight weekly limits, Pheasant Dec 5-6 and 12-13 Panhandle, Wild Hog Nov 16 to Dec 31, Squirrels Oct-Dec and year-round in 69 counties, with many counties having special rules.
The Board of Directors calls a meeting of stockholders of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway Company. The meeting will convene at the company’s principal office in Amarillo, Potter County.
On November 16 1953 the Texas meeting invites action to authorize a Mortgage or Deed of Trust named General Income Mortgage to secure bonds for Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroads and properties. It outlines bond terms totals limits 46.4 million plus post 1952 expenditures and two initial bond issuances of 9 million and 11 984 million with future options.
State Commerce Commission said bonds are to be dated July 1 1953 with E F Browder as Secretary.
