Rotary WIV Notes TFO Shevington New Member Intro Discussed
At the previous Rotary meeting new member Shevington was present and introduced. President Scotty assigned Phirley Seales to instruct Frank at tomorrow’s luncheon. Three guests attended last Friday’s luncheon Mr Neal of Dexter Company Dallas in asphalt work near Alpine W L Carothers of Emporia Kansas and Mrs Othellanscom of North Texas State Teachers College. Mr Neal spoke on asphalt surfacing noting two course inverted penetration roads as successful with examples in Tom Green and Schleicher counties. He doubted one course asphalt as a success and warned against more than two courses creating sticky roads. The talk was well received as street building is on many minds. Prof Caret ers and Mrs Hanscom urged youth to emulate elders and stressed responsible conduct. (Ed Note: Marathon details follow). Mrs K O Wadsworth of EE Puso attended to honor her aunt Miss Emmela Harris. Monday evening an informal reception at the Marathon High School auditorium celebrated faculty of Marathon Public School and Mexican School with prayers, orchestra, readings, and performances by local students.
