Big Bend Receives Best General Rainfall Of Year
Rainfall across the Big Bend region this week ranges from light showers to downpours exceeding three inches in spots. Alpine reports the most general rainfall since last summer, aiding winter grass for livestock. Marfa and areas south, plus locales from Pecos to Fort Stockton, saw heavy rains and a related flood risk near Alpine. A notable 1.5 inch rain in Alpine Thursday extended August totals to 4.448 inches per local observer. The stormy week also touched Pt. Davis and vicinity with continuous rain across seven days, including a roaring Limpla creek and bridges along the canyon. Local officials note California-bound traffic and regional reaction to the damp weather and civic chatter, including Rotary visits and NRA program discussions.
