Teachers Association Studies School Transportation Costs
The Texas State Teachers Association reports an expected increase in the number of transported school children this term due to population growth and better attendance. Despite over ten million dollars in state reimbursements, many districts say actual costs exceed aid, with 23 counties fully reimbursed and total state transport costs exceeding twelve million dollars last term. A statewide study by the Texas Education Agency is under way to develop a scientific cost formula applied in counties across the state.
