Park Official Named Chief Naturalist at Big Bend
Douglas B. Evans will become chief park naturalist at Big Bend entering duty about November 15. He succeeds Harold J. Brodrick who transferred to Dinosaur National Monument Utah. Evans now serves as assistant chief park naturalist at Grand Canyon National Park Arizona and has worked as a park naturalist at Mammoth Cave Mt. Rainier and Grand Canyon since 1958. Brodrick had been chief naturalist at Big Bend since 1955 and will lead the interpretive program at Dinosaur.

Presidio County and Brewster County gain the official name Camino del Rio for the scenic route linking Presidio to Study Butte, now hailed as the world’s most spectacular highway. Hales Purchase New Building for Model Cleaners
Mr and Mrs Cecil Hale owners of Model Cleaners announced the purchase of the building at 115 N 6th St formerly Williams Vogt Grocery from Eric Williams and Paul Vogt. They plan redecorating and expect to open in the new quarters by November 1. The 30 by 100 foot space is larger than the current store. The vacated building is owned by Williams Vogt.
