Alpine Kid Football Through The Years Since 1923
Alpine public schools began kid football in 1928 with two games a season in Marfa and at home. By 1933 1942 about 500 boys played, delinquency dropped, and a 1940s thesis noted the program cut juvenile delinquency. The sport persisted through moves due to growth, WWII gas shortages, and changes in coaches into the 1950s, with a long tradition on Central campus and Alpine High School facilities.
