School authorities announced the adoption of new report cards for this school year. High school cards will include attitudes grades and teachers’ comments with standardized test scores. elementary cards focus on achievement and attitudes. The system will show quartile ranks and is due after six weeks exams.
Alpine junior footballers under Coach Alderson won the big junior game 13-0 at Central School in Marfa on Friday October 10, but lost the 100 pound and under game 6-0. Dickie Allen sprinted 25 yards for a would be score before a helmet rule nullified it. Alpine finished strong with a fourth quarter touchdown.
Mrs. C. J. Warren aged 49 wife of the Hudspeth County News Sierra Blanca publisher died in an El Paso hospital Sunday night October 5 after a long illness funeral services were held locally. Funeral service conducted at the Methodist church in Sierra Blanca at 2 p m October 8 with Rev John Cox a former pastor in Alton Missouri in 1906 and Rev Bryan Judge of Sierra Blanca Baptist church officiating. Mrs Warren is described by her husband as a hard worker who continued to work daily until hospital confinement. Fraternal sympathy is offered to the family.
